Q In your position, do you oversee everything that goes on with maintenance?
A The maintenance division here is typical of a tradition park. It would be different than Minute Man or Adams or Boston National Historic Park. We have a building and utility group; there's the roads and shop group; and then a trails division. At our peak we have about 60 people on payroll, but only 15 work year round.
QIs your busiest time in the summer with the tourist influx?
A Actually April, May and June are the toughest time of the year. We are trying to get everything ready. There is a very small window of opportunity because it isn't really until the end of April that the frost and snow are off the ground and we have to be up to speed by Memorial Day. You get everything working and by fall everything is good and then you come back in the spring and everything is broken again. It's just one of those things. It happens every year. THere are trees down everywhere, water lines are broken and parts of the road have collapsed.
