Q What exactly do
you do?
A I oversee day to
day operations of law enforcement patrols, fee collection, lifeguard
operation at Sand Beach and resource protection patrols.
Q Why did
you choose to get involved in the Park Service?
A I was born and
raised in western New York state where there are no National Parks. When
I was in high school, I went out to work on a ranch in Montana. We went
through Yellowstone National Park where I saw a ranger at the entrance
station and immediately knew that was what I wanted to do. I knew that
was what I had to be.
Q Do you want to
stay at Acadia?
A I think one of the
benefits of being a park ranger is being able to go around the country
from park to park. If you stay in one park, it is good to a degree. You
get to know that park and its resources. However, there are so many
parks out there, I think you cut yourself short not to experience
working at other parks.
